Description
1854-D Five Dollar Gold, AU50
Popular Dahlonega Mint Issue
1854-D $5 Medium D AU50 PCGS. Winter 37-CC. The 1854-D half
eagle Medium D, Winter 37-CC key attribution identifier are
prominent clash marks off the upper edge of the eagle's left wing
on this scarce variety. Olive-gold toning with orange highlights.
Lightly abraded surfaces are grade-consistent, and frosty luster
with a grainy texture can be seen in protected areas. The strike is
good for this Dahlonega branch mint issue, with nicely formed
portrait and eagle design elements, and a strong D mintmark. PCGS
