Description

1854-O Half Eagle, AU55
Attractive New Orleans Mint Issue

1854-O $5 AU55 NGC. Winter-1. This is an attractive New Orleans branch mint five dollar gold piece, with medium canary-yellow toning. Some central striking weakness can be observed in the shield and arrow feathers, which is typical for the issue. Light marks are found throughout, none of which are distracting. Satiny luster shines in peripheral areas. The 1854-O half eagle becomes very scarce at the AU55 grade level. NGC Census: 44 in 55, 55 finer (2/25).(Registry values: P6)
