Description

1854-O Five Dollar Liberty, AU55
Bright and Attractive

1854-O $5 AU55 NGC. Winter-1. The New Orleans Mint struck 46,000 half eagles in 1854. The date is collectible, but challenging in high grade. Most pieces seen at auction are in one of the AU grades, though many are impaired. This Choice AU coin displays bright yellow-gold patina with satiny luster in the fields and little wear over the well-struck devices. Only the fletchings on the reverse show minor softness. Scattered abrasions are as usual for the grade and issue. NGC Census: 45 in 55, 55 finer (10/25).(Registry values: P6)
