Only 20 Certified Mint State Pieces

1854-O $5 MS61 NGC. Variety 1. The New Orleans Mint coined half eagles every year from 1840 to 1847, then discontinued the denomination until 1851, following that year with two more dormant years for the denomination until 1854 when 46,000 examples were minted. This amazing green-gold specimen has brilliant satin luster with sharp details. The reflective fields show minimal marks on this example. NGC and PCGS have combined to certify just 20 Mint State examples with none finer than MS63. Census: 7 in 61, 4 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P6)
