Not Sold Description
Condition Rarity 1855 Five Dollar, MS61
1855 $5 MS61 NGC. The 1851 half eagle is rare in Mint State (Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth, 2006). The 48 Uncirculated examples graded by NGC and PCGS likely consist of several resubmissions. The brass-gold surfaces of this MS61 specimen display partially prooflike fields that establish modest contrast with the motifs. Well struck, save for softness on the arrow feathers. The few minuscule marks visible are less than what might be expected for the grade. Census: 9 in 61, 13 finer (7/08).(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UP, PCGS# 8261, GSID# 8901)
