1855-C Half Eagle, Choice AU
Median Rarity in the Series
1855-C $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. The only die pairing of this
high-grade scarcity from Charlotte. The 1855-C is a median rarity
in the series with a mintage of 39,789 pieces, of which
approximately 175-225 individual examples are known. Only two or
three dozen AU pieces are believed to exist today. This coin
appears original with deeper gray-tinted reddish-gold surfaces that
retain slight remnants of mint luster around the devices. Lightly
marked on each side.(Registry values: P4)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UR, PCGS# 8262, Greysheet# 9013)
