Description
1855-C Five Dollar, AU55
Exceptional Quality and Eye Appeal
1855-C $5 AU55 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. The 1855-C boasts a
fairly substantial mintage for a Charlotte issue of 39,788 pieces,
however, the date is decidedly scarce in high grade. This Choice AU
example is particularly high-end for the grade, being one of just
five AU55 pieces with CAC endorsement. Satiny luster remains in the
fields, and the devices -- surprisingly well struck for the
Carolina mint -- show little wear. A smooth, problem-free Charlotte
type coin. Population: 17 in 55, 18 finer. CAC: 5 in 55, 3 finer
(9/20).From The Maurice Storck Collection. (Registry values: P4)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UR, PCGS# 8262, Greysheet# 9013)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
