Description
Condition Census AU 58 1855-D Half Eagle
1855-D AU 58. An elusive Dahlonega half eagle, most often seen in VF-XF grades and exceedingly rare at the mint state level. Like most '55-D fives, this piece exhibits noticeable softness in Liberty's curls and in the central details of the eagle and shield. The surfaces are otherwise original with a generous amount of mint luster still in evidence. A condition census '55-D and an important coin for the specialist in Southern gold.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25US, PCGS# 8263, Greysheet# 9014)
Weight: 8.36 grams
