1855-O $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 1. With an estimated survivorship of about 100 coins, the 1855-O is one of the rarest No Motto half eagles from the New Orleans Mint. Only 11,100 coins were struck in all. The obverse is normally soft, but this Choice AU five dollar gold piece with deep orange color exhibits uniformly bold detail throughout. Marks above and below the eagle's left wing act as pedigree identifiers. Census: 12 in 55, 8 finer (3/18).(Registry values: P7)
