1855-O $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. The only known variety. This is a surprisingly rare issue that seldom appears for sale at auction. Over the past several years, we have offered about one of these per year, and never any finer than this example. The surfaces have bright green-gold color with reflective, nearly prooflike fields and few marks of any kind. Census: 7 in 58, 3 finer (2/14).
