    Flashy 1856-O Half Eagle AU58

    1856-O $5 AU58 PCGS. The 1856-O is tied with the 1892-O for lowest mintage honors among New Orleans Mint Half Eagles with just 10,000 coins produced each year, and is estimated to be the fifth rarest O-mint Five in high grades after the 1847-O, 1842-O, 1855-O, and 1857-O. High on the list of surviving examples is this flashy yellow-gold representative. The surfaces are mildly prooflike with excellent sharpness over the highpoints. Although rather numerous, abrasions are well dispersed over both sides. Population: 3 in 58, 1 finer (5/05).(#8269) (Registry values: P7)
