Description
Attractive and Conditionally Rare 1856-S Half Eagle, Mint State
1856-S $5 MS60 NGC. Nearly all 1856-S half eagles saw circulation and Mint State examples are seldom seen. In fact, NGC and PCGS combined have certified only a dozen Uncirculated pieces, and a PCGS MS64 example is the finest known by two points. Delightful orange-gold patina embraces the astonishingly lustrous surfaces. Peppered abrasions limit the grade, but none are of any significance. This fully struck specimen has outstanding eye appeal and would make a wonderful addition to a collection. Census: 3 in 60, 6 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P6)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UZ, PCGS# 8270, GSID# 9021)
