Description

1857 Liberty Half Eagle, MS62+
CAC-Endorsed Condition Rarity

1857 $5 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. The 1857 Liberty half eagle comes from a limited mintage of only 98,180 pieces, and examples are scarce in Uncirculated condition. This is one of only two Plus-graded coins in MS62 at PCGS, and it is among the top six pieces with CAC endorsement. Weakness on the eagle's neck is typical of the issue, but the strike is otherwise pleasing. Bright honey-gold surfaces reveal minor abrasions in the fields. Population: 21 in 62 (2 in 62+), 23 finer. CAC: 4 in 62, 2 finer (11/24).(Registry values: P5)
