1857 Liberty Half Eagle, MS63
Rare High-Grade Example
1857 $5 MS63 PCGS. Soft, satiny butter-gold luster
illuminates minimally marked surfaces on this Select Mint State
1857 half eagle. The eagle's neck and the hair curls at Liberty's
brow show slight softness, but the border stars are well defined.
Eye appeal is pleasing. This Philadelphia issue is rarely found in
MS63, and only a handful of higher-grade pieces are reported.
