Attractive 1857-C Half Eagle, AU50
1857-C $5 AU50 PCGS. Variety 1 as always for the 1857-C half eagle. It appears that a single die pair remained in service for the entire 31,360 coin mintage of the issue. An attractive AU example, this piece is finer than the majority of survivors. Traces of iridescent toning are visible over light yellow surfaces. Both sides exhibit minor grade-consistent abrasions.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25V3, PCGS# 8272, GSID# 9022)
