Splendid 1857-C Half Eagle, Choice AU
1857-C $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 27-J. The only variety known. Lots of luster shines beneath the delightful yellow-gold patina. The details are crisply defined and there are no mentionable marks on either side. Several minuscule planchet defects are noted, as well as a few tiny blemishes on the obverse. A lovely and relatively affordable type coin. Just 31,360 pieces were minted.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25V3, PCGS# 8272, GSID# 9022)
