1857-C $5 MS61 NGC. Variety 1. The only die pair for 1857-C half eagles. Light die cracks are noted through STATES and elsewhere on the reverse. The mintage of this issue was 31,360 that compares favorably to the average Charlotte half eagle mintage of 38,210 coins. This delightful example has a bold strike that features sharp hair and feather details. Both sides have brilliant light yellow surfaces and trivial marks of no consequence. Census: 16 in 61 (1 in 61+), 9 finer (11/22).(Registry values: P3)
