Near-Mint 1857-D Half Eagle

1857-D $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 34-CC. A refreshingly unabraded Borderline Uncirculated Dahlonega half eagle that has peripheral luster and original yellow gold color. Slightly soft on the fletchings and forehead curls. A lower mintage issue, since California had its own mint and the Georgian gold fields were largely played out. Census: 24 in 58, 12 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P3)
