Description
1857-S Half Eagle, AU55
Olive-Gold Patina
1857-S $5 AU55 PCGS. The 1857-S issue is more plentiful than
many other half eagle dates for the 1850s, although Mint State
pieces are conditionally rare. This collectible Choice AU coin
displays original olive-gold patina with elements of luster in the
protected regions. Slight strike softness is visible only on the
hair curls around Liberty's face. This is only our seventh
opportunity to offer this date so fine or finer in the last five
years (4/26).Ex: Beverly Hill Signature (Heritage, 12/2018), lot 3773.(Registry values: P6)
