Description
1858 Liberty Half Eagle, MS64+
Low-Mintage Philadelphia Issue
1858 $5 MS64+ NGC. CAC. Only 15,136 Liberty half eagles were
struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1858, a production total that
was about on par with the scarce branch-mint issues of that era.
The 1858 circulated heavily at the time of issue, making high-grade
examples rare in today's market. The present coin is a high-end
Choice example, with well-detailed design elements that show just a
touch of softness on Liberty's hair and the arrow fletchings. The
well-preserved orange-gold surfaces emit vibrant satiny mint luster
and overall eye appeal is outstanding. Census: 4 in 64 (1 in 64+),
3 finer (4/15).(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25V7, PCGS# 8276, Greysheet# 8904)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
