Scarce Variety 2
1858-C $5 AU50 NGC. Variety 2. The scarce 1858-C half eagle
has two varieties, the "mintmark left" Variety 1 and the "mintmark
right" Variety 2. Only approximately 15% of the issue is Variety 2.
This butter-gold AU representative is free from mentionable marks.
A pair of strike-throughs, as produced, reside on the upper reverse
