    Description

1858-C $5 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Variety 1. The C is under the fletching. Doug Winter estimates 275 to 375 1858-C half eagles survive, including 70 to 85 examples in AU condition, making this one of the most plentiful Charlotte five dollar gold issues. Central definition is slightly soft on the reverse, but the rest of this orange-gold offering is bold. Both sides are dulled by cleaning.
