1858-C $5 --Improperly Cleaned--NGC. AU Details. Variety 1, the usual die pair for this challenging Charlotte issue. This well struck example has scant indication of wear, and the somewhat bright surfaces are unmarked aside from a reed impression on the reverse rim at 6 o'clock.
