Sharply Struck

1858-C $5 MS61 NGC. Variety 1. An apricot-gold example with olive-green toning at the borders. Well struck for a Charlotte Mint product, especially on the obverse. The claws and fletching show minor softness. There are no mentionable marks, although unimportant mint-made strike-throughs are noted beneath Liberty's chin and under the eagle's left (facing) wing. Census: 5 in 61, 9 finer (5/14).(Registry values: P3)
