Description

Rare 1858-S Half Eagle

1858-S $5 AU53 PCGS. Dark orange-gold throughout. The strike is average for this issue and the surfaces show moderate abrasions from circulation. Traces of luster remain in the protected areas. A lot of Gold Rush history was experienced during this coins brief foray into the channels of commerce. Population: 2 in 53, 5 finer (1/06).(Registry values: P8)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VA, PCGS# 8279, Greysheet# 9028)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
