A Lovely Mint State Alternative

1859 $5 AU58 PCGS. This low-mintage issue is rarely encountered in any grade, and collectors can abandon hopes of obtaining a full Mint State example, as only eight have been certified by PCGS and NGC, combined. The alternative is a near-Mint specimen such as the coin offered here. Although a trace of wear is present, along with scattered marks of little consequence, both sides have virtually full luster with lovely greenish-gold surfaces. Population: 11 in 58, 2 finer (12/13).(Registry values: P6)
