Wonderful 1859-D Half Eagle, AU58
1859-D $5 Medium D AU58 NGC. Variety 36-CC. Identified by the medium mintmark. The 1859-D has the second lowest mintage in the Dahlonega half eagle series. Powerful reflectivity in the fields complements the pleasing yellow-gold patina that covers both sides. The strike is a trifle soft, but there are no marks of any significance.
