Description
1860-D Medium Mintmark Half Eagle, AU58
Sharply Struck Throughout
1860-D $5 Medium D AU58 PCGS. Variety 46-GG. The D mintmark
is close to the branch and the feather, and its upright is over the
left serif of the E in FIVE. The yellow-gold surfaces of this
near-Mint State example display ample luster in the recessed areas.
The design elements are sharply struck throughout, and neither side
reveals marks beyond what would be expected for a gold coin that
saw brief circulation. Population for the Medium D variety: 22 in
58 (1 in 58+), 31 finer (7/19).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2015), lot 4256.(Registry values: P4)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VH, PCGS# 8286, Greysheet# 9034)
