Description
Very Scarce 1860-S Half Eagle AU50
1860-S $5 AU50 PCGS. A seldom offered S-mint Half Eagle that is particularly elusive in AU and better condition, with only a single Mint State piece being certified by either of the major services. Even its seemingly low mintage of 21,000 pieces does not accurately convey its undisputed rarity. The present AU example was acquired decades ago. The strike is average or better and much luster remains over medium golden surfaces. Population: 7 in 50, 5 finer (10/03).From The New Millennium Collection, Part 3.(#8287) (Registry values: P7)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VJ, PCGS# 8287, Greysheet# 9036)
