1860-S Half Eagle, AU55
Fewer Than 100 Pieces Known
1860-S $5 AU55 NGC. With "less than 100 known," according to
PCGS reports, the 1860-S half eagle is seldom available in any
grade and almost unknown in Mint State. This Choice AU
representative displays pleasing yellow-gold color with some luster
remaining in the protected regions. Light surface chatter is
typical of the grade. The 1860-S comes from a mintage of only
21,200 pieces and is underrated in all grades. Census: 11 in 55, 8
