1861 $5 MS64 PCGS. Although a common date because of its high mintage, the 1861 issue, from the commencement of Civil War hostilities, is a popular choice for a No Motto half eagle. This piece boasts satiny, orange-gold surfaces that are well struck, with only a few light abrasions preventing a Gem grade. Population: 41 in 64, 8 finer (12/07). (Registry values: P3)
