Sharp and Partially Lustrous

1862 $5 AU55 NGC. This scarce Philadelphia half eagle boasts a small mintage of 4,430 pieces, of which fewer than 100 are believed to survive in all grades. This Choice AU representative displays a sharp strike and partially lustrous yellow-gold fields. Scattered abrasions accompany the grade, few of which are individually significant. This date is prohibitively rare in Mint State. Census: 9 in 55, 11 finer (7/16).
