Only Three Finer PCGS Coins
1864 $5 AU55 PCGS. CAC. From a tiny Civil War mintage of
4,170 pieces, the 1864 Liberty half eagle is an elusive and
underrated date, with 60-75 pieces extant in all grades. This
attractive Choice AU specimen shows just a touch of wear on the
sharply detailed devices. The lustrous greenish-gold surfaces
exhibit few signs of circulation. Population: 5 in 55, 3 finer
(8/11).(Registry values: P7)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VU, PCGS# 8296, Greysheet# 8910)
