Description
1864 Half Eagle, XF45
Absolute Rarity, 60 to 75 Coins Known
1864 $5 XF45 PCGS. PCGS CoinFacts suggests 60 to 75 1864
half eagles are known. At the time of striking, the uncertainties
of war had largely driven gold from circulation. Light friction
occurs over sharply struck devices on this red-gold example. Both
sides are abraded, but the absolute rarity of the issue should
overcome the usual surfaces marks. Population: 11 in 45, 22 finer
(11/17).(Registry values: P7)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25VU, PCGS# 8296, Greysheet# 8910)
