1866 Motto Half Eagle, XF45+
Outstanding Collector Coin

1866 $5 XF45+ NGC. CAC. All half eagles struck at Philadelphia in 1866 are of the With Motto design, with 6,700 pieces produced. Today, fewer than 100 examples are extant, most in circulated grades. This coin shows old-time olive-gold patina with light wear and minor abrasions. CAC endorsement sets the coin apart from most of its peers. Census: 4 in 45 (1 in 45+), 42 finer. CAC: 5 in 45, 16 finer (10/24).(Registry values: P3)
