Description

Scarce 1866-S Motto Five Dollar, VF25

1866-S $5 Motto VF25 PCGS. The 1866-S with Motto five dollar circulated extensively on the West Coast, thus most surviving examples come well worn. The bright honey-gold surfaces of this VF25 example display whispers of reddish-tan, along with nicely defined design features. LIBERTY is strong, and most of the letters in the reverse motto are clear. The expected number of light marks are visible on both sides. Quite scarce at this level.(Registry values: P3)
