1867-S $5 XF40 PCGS. The 1867-S has a tiny mintage of 29,000 pieces, since the San Francisco Mint preferred to strike double eagles prior to 1878, when the Federal paper dollar finally achieved parity with its gold counterpart. This orange-tinted example is sharply defined and has substantial luster for its designated grade. Encased in an old green label holder. Population: 6 in 40, 22 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P3)
