Description

NGC 1868 AU 55. As one of the finest pieces known of this rare date, this coin should prove of interest to many collectors of rare date 19th century gold. Just a smidgen of prooflikeness remains in the fields, and the coin shows several small to medium sized abrasions in the fields and a couple on the central device of Liberty as well. Medium reddish-gold color throughout, this is an impressive example of this difficult issue. Trends $4,250 in AU 50, $9,000 in MS 60.
