Description
1869 Five Dollar Liberty, AU50
Underappreciated Philadelphia Issue
1869 $5 AU50 PCGS. A predictably elusive With Motto five,
the 1869 is just as rare as its mintage of 1,760 pieces implies. As
usual for this issue, the fields retain considerable semireflective
qualities despite numerous tiny abrasions. The features are well
struck throughout with only slight softness noted over the eagle's
neck feathers. An original piece, the surfaces have taken on a
subtle overlay of golden-red patina. Housed in an old green label
holder. Population: 7 in 50 (1 in 50+), 14 finer (5/22).Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 7/2005), lot 7542.
