Description

1870-CC Five Dollar, VF20 Details
Low-Mintage First-Year CC Issue

1870-CC $5 -- Cleaned -- ANACS. VF20 Details. Variety 1-A. Only 7,675 half eagles were minted at Carson City in 1870. Most of the coins saw extensive circulation and are heavily worn. Fewer than 100 examples are known in all grades, of which perhaps two or three are Mint State. This evenly worn piece displays bright, honey-gold surfaces that are finely hairlined. A scattering of minute contact marks occurs on each side. Rather good VF definition is retained on the design features.
