1870-CC Half Eagle, XF40
Low-Mintage First-Year Issue
1870-CC $5 XF40 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The 1870-CC Liberty half
eagle boasts a low mintage of 7,675 pieces accomplished in the
first year of coining operations at the fabled Carson City Mint.
The 1870-CC is the rarest Carson City five, with a surviving
population of 50-60 examples in all grades, and the date is always
in demand from series enthusiasts and mintmark type collectors.This coin exhibits light wear on the well-detailed design elements and the lightly abraded orange-gold surfaces show a few highlights of green and lilac. Both sides retain traces of original mint luster, adding to the strong visual appeal. Population: 7 in 40, 25 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P3)
