Description
Appealing AU55 1870-S Five Dollar
1870-S $5 AU55 NGC. Like most San Francisco issues of the 1850s and beyond, the numismatic survival of the 1870-S half eagle was a victim of its commercial success. Light wear crosses the high points of this well struck and still-lustrous coin, gold-orange and lightly abraded with small alloy spots scattered on the obverse. Census: 12 in 55, 3 finer (4/10).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25WB, PCGS# 8321, GSID# 9050)
