Description

1871-CC Five Dollar, AU Details
Rare in Any Grade

1871-CC $5 -- Altered Surfaces -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Winter 1-C. This half eagle has a production of only 20,770 coins many of which disappeared through attrition, leaving a mere two Mint State examples reported by PCGS (4/25). Strong hints of original luster are featured on orange-gold surfaces that provide attractive eye appeal, supporting the AU-level grade. Abrasions are numerous and fine granularity throughout accounts for the Altered Surfaces designation.

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
