    Description

1871-CC $5 -- Whizzed -- NGC Details. XF. Variety 1-B. The second-year Carson City half eagle is less rare than its famous 1870-CC predecessor, but well-defined examples are seldom encountered. In all grades, approximately 250 pieces have survived. The present apricot-gold representative appears mark-free but the surfaces are whizzed throughout, as confirmed by close evaluation beneath a lens.
