Seldom Seen in Any Grade
1871-S $5 AU55 PCGS. The 1871-S half eagle boasts a meager
mintage of 25,000 pieces. Examples are seldom encountered in any
grade, and Mint State coins are extremely rare. This Choice AU
displays a good amount of luster on its peach-gold surfaces and is
well defined. Distributed ticks do not significantly detract.
