1873 Open 3 Half Eagle, MS63
Very Rare in High Grade
1873 $5 Open 3 MS63 PCGS. A mintage of 112,480 Liberty half
eagles was accomplished in 1873, split between the Closed 3 and
Open 3 varieties. The Open three variant is slightly more common
than its Closed 3 counterpart, but it is still a scarce-to-rare
issue in all grades today. This well-detailed Select example
displays rich orange-gold surfaces with scattered minor contact
marks and slightly subdued mint luster. Population: 11 in 63, 10
finer (1/17).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25WJ, PCGS# 8328, Greysheet# 8919)
