Description
Outstanding 1874-CC Half Eagle, AU58
1874-CC $5 AU58 PCGS. In circulated grades up to AU50, the 1874-CC is frequently seen in auctions and at conventions. However, finer quality pieces like this near-Mint example are elusive, despite a significant mintage of 21,198 coins. PCGS has only certified two full Mint State examples of this issue, while NGC has certified a single Mint State piece. The present piece is virtually the equal of those full Mint State specimens, separated from the higher grade due to a trace of wear on the design high points. The surfaces are brilliant and lustrous, with few abrasions on either side. Population: 9 in 58, 2 finer (10/09).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25WP, PCGS# 8334, GSID# 9057)
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
