    1876 Liberty Half Eagle, MS63
    Only 1,432 Pieces Struck

1876 $5 MS63 PCGS. The 1876 Liberty half eagle boasts an extraordinarily low business-strike mintage of 1,432 pieces, making the date rare in all grades and conditions. A few high-quality examples are extant, possibly saved by contemporary collectors as souvenirs of the national centennial celebration. The present coin is an attractive Select specimen, with light orange-gold surfaces that show a mixture of vibrant satiny mint luster and prooflike reflectivity. The design elements are well-detailed, with a touch of softness on the central reverse. Only minor contact marks are evident. Population: 2 in 63, 6 finer (2/13).(Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 25WW, PCGS# 8339)
