Description

1876 Half Eagle, XF45
Only 1,432 Pieces Struck

1876 $5 XF45 PCGS. Both the 1876 San Francisco and 1876 Carson City half eagles are scarce low-mintage dates, but the 1876 Philadelphia five dollar issue is the rarest of all. A few highly graded 1876 P-mint half eagles are known -- likely saved as Centennial year souvenirs -- but otherwise, this Philadelphia date is seldom available from a minuscule 1,432-piece mintage. Traces of reflectivity remain on the lightly abraded, wheat-gold surfaces of this Choice XF survivor. The sharp strike shows only faint high-point wear. Population: 6 in 45, 26 finer (2/24).(Registry values: P3)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25WW, PCGS# 8339, Greysheet# 8923)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
