Description
1876-CC Coronet Five Dollar, AU50
Only 6,887 Coins Struck
1876-CC $5 AU50 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Ex: Rian's Bequest. Half
eagle production was limited to just 6,887 pieces at the Carson
City Mint in 1876. Rusty Goe proposes a surviving population of
perhaps 120 to 140 coins, including a few high-grade examples that
may have been saved as Centennial-year souvenirs. The stars and legends are bold on this About Uncirculated Coronet five dollar gold piece, while the interiors exhibit a combination of moderate strike softness and blending from a brief stay in circulation. Both sides are bright yellow-gold and maintain traces of partial field reflectivity despite scattered abrasions. Population: 7 in 50, 18 finer (11/21).
